Joe Locke Confirms That He Is Now the Most Powerful Character in 'Agatha All Along': "The show starts getting real" (2024)

One of the most intriguing mysteries of Agatha All Along was the identity of Joe Locke’s character, “The Teen.” In the latest episode, it was revealed that this boy is actually Wanda’s reincarnated son—Billy Maximoff, also known as Billy Kaplan and Wiccan.

This revelation raises several questions of its own. By the end of the show, viewers need to uncover who placed the sigil on Billy, how he returned to Westview, why he appears as a teenager, and what happened to his brother Tommy.

The show managed to address some of these issues already, in the form of hints. In the latest episode, Billy reveals that a lot happened to him at age 13, and the footage includes a look at Billy Kaplan, born to Jeff and Rebecca Kaplan, who is involved in a car crash during ‘WandaVision’.

This serves as a strong clue about how Hilliard’s younger Billy Maximoff vanished when Wanda lifted the hex over Westview but has now returned as a fully grown character on the Witches’ Road. We’re still in the dark regarding the details, however.

Following his grand reveal and the fact that he can now openly talk about his role, Locke recently sat down and talked to Entertainment Weekly, teasing what’s next for Wiccan.

The actor revealed that from this point, the show keeps getting better and better, and now the real things start. He also confirmed that his character is practically the most powerful in ‘Agatha All Along.’

The show starts getting real. The show starts with Billy being very much the familiar, the secondary to all the witches. Now we know he is also a witch, and that changes things. Also, we now know that he has the ability to cause harm to them. Therefore, he is now the most powerful person on the Road. What does that change in the dynamic of the group and how does that change the future of those relationships?

Locke also addressed the things he liked when it comes to playing Wiccan and explained all the small things that made him such a complicated and important character, as well as cleared up the fact that he has been lying to Agatha all along (yes pun intended):

We talked a lot about playing with the gray area. At the end of episode 5, we don’t know what happens to those witches, but he’s not doing a good thing. We played a lot with, does that make him a bad person? Is he a good person? Which then draws parallels to the motherly figures in his life. Wanda does evil things but isn’t necessarily evil.

Agatha, questionably, is evil, but there’s more to that, as well. We know that he’s been lying to her, and we play a lot with those dynamics of how duplicitous he is. The facade of the fanboy teen, is that completely fake or is that actually still a real part of him? This is the stuff that I found so interesting in playing him.

Ultimately, Locke addressed the similarities between his characters and Wanda, and all the small details they wanted to implement in the show in order for viewers to connect the mother and the son. The actor also admitted that he wasn’t very familiar with the character when he got the role, which is not that strange:

We worked to find similarities in both Billy and Wanda, the way they use their magic. Fans of the comic corner know that Billy’s powers are pretty much the same as Wanda’s with a few differences, so we wanted to find similarities with that, but also his own finesse.

As far as the future goes, Locke has big plans for Wiccan:

In my ideal world, Billy would become the next head of the Avengers and be in every Marvel thing ever, but there are higher things at play. I had the most amazing experience filming on Agatha and being a part of the Marvel family and would love to do that until the day I die. But who knows? I don’t. I’m sure someone does.
